WELCOME
The Eastern Goldfields Historical Society is located in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia and operates from the former Boulder Municipal Power Station in Hamilton Street, Boulder. We are open to the public every Wednesday morning (closed from mid December to mid January) from 9am to 12 noon or by arrangement.
The aim of the Society is to preserve, promote, research and record the history of the Eastern Goldfields and we hold a large collection of historic photographs, interesting museum pieces, an extensive source reference materials, an impressive collection of Goldfields books in our library, and bookshop. Regular members meetings are held and numerous interesting activities and outings conducted throughout the year.
OBJECTIVES
- The encouragement of the research, study and writing of Eastern Goldfields history.
- The collection, classification and preservation of records, articles and oral histories relating to the history of the Eastern Goldfields.
- The printing, publishing, sale, distribution and circulation of books and other materials which will promote and advance the objectives of the Society.
- The interchange of information amongst members of the Society and affiliated societies and the education and informing of the public by lectures, readings, discussions and exhibitions of historical material and the provision of premises to facilitate these purposes.
- The stimulation of public interest in and support for the preservation of historical relics, including buildings and sites and the acquisition of such relics, buildings and sites by purchase, gift, loan or otherwise.
- The promotion of the commemoration of notable anniversaries in Eastern Goldfields history.
- The erection of suitable signs, notices and memorials commemorating outstanding persons, events and places of historical interest.
- The promotion of social gatherings of members and tours of historical sites.
- Co-operation with other historical organizations having the same objectives as our own.
