Eastern Goldfields Historical Society book store beats the trend

The Eastern Goldfields Historical Society (EGHS) has expanded its book store collection by nearly two hundred titles and is beating the trend of book store closures and cutbacks in the region. Now the Goldfields primary dealer for Hesperian Press publications, the Society is providing the region with the most comprehensive collections of books on local history, stories and authors.

The Society’s President, Mr Scott Wilson said, “The Society has had a comprehensive collection of books on local content for sale which also includes many titles written by Society members past and present. Being able to add to this already significant collection offers locals and visitors a large range of books for purchase, we are also supporting the authors who add value and colour to our region.”

Hesperian Press has been publishing Australian books since 1969 under the guidance of principal, Mr Peter Bridge. There are over seven hundred titles published by Hesperian Press, with up to 20 works in progress at any time. The publisher deals with a specific Australian history’s such as Australiana, Bush Poetry, Doctors, Nurses, Police and Pilots, Explorers and Prospectors, Gold Rushes, Mining and Goldfields History, Life in the Bush, Pioneers and Early Settlers, Maritime History, Military History, Outdoor Activities and Scientific Reference Works.

Mr Wilson also said “Securing nearly two hundred titles relating to the Eastern Goldfields history from the publisher Hesperian Press has been a great win for the Society. The publications have been a great source of reference for prospectors, outback travellers and locals as they provide a rich history on a variety of locations and topics such as the Woodline’s, explorers, maps and early day Goldfields life. We are excited to provide more titles which make for great gift ideas, good reading and reference for all the Eastern Goldfields region.”
