Youanmi was a goldfields town that emerged in the desert, thrived briefly, and then declined. This book presents the history of the town, its mines, and its residents.
The author is the grand-niece of Alfred Evans, an original leaseholder on the Youanmi field, and comes from a goldfields background on both sides of her family. Born in Perth in 1922, she attended Perth Modern School from 1935 to 1939 and graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1942. She has published short stories and textbooks and currently resides in Sydney.
